MOTOGP OFF-SEASON: RUMOUR, INTRIGUE AND GOSSIP

Tech3 Yamaha's James Toseland has been given the all clear by some three-legged, tail-less doctors after experiencing dizzy spells as a result of his 125mph crash at Sepang's official tests. His massive highside wrote off one of two new YZR-M1s and he was suffering from a patchy memory, with doctors saying the former WSB Champion was very lucky to have escaped virtually unscathed.

HRC has apparently begun some sort of witch hunt after details of the firm's rev-limit policy on customer bikes. The mighty company is said to be distinctly dis-chuffed that everyone now knows about the 18,200rpm limit, not just the people that have leased the bikes.

Dani Pedrosa's fairy godfather (with the emphasis on horses heads in beds) Alberto Puig was none too keen on Repsol Honda's appointment of Andrea Dovizioso because he might well show the Spaniard up. The Spanish public are getting a bit bored waiting for Pedrosa to win the title, while Repsol can't be happy with his miserable demeanour. Will 2010 see Pedrosa slung out of the team and replaced with Alvaro Baustista? Yes, it will.

Herve Poncharal's Tech3 Yamaha team are looking to run a Moto2 bike in the very near future. The series will run as a feeder to MotoGP, which is very handy for talent scouting. When asked about it, team boss Poncharal rolled his eyes, waved his arms about a bit and, before nipping off for a cheeky Pernod, said "Paf". Probably.

Valentino Rossi has said that Kawasaki most probably pulled out of MotoGP because they weren't very good, using the credit crunch as a good reason for withdrawal. And the Oscar for Stating The Obvious goes to....

Marco Melandri has managed to outpace a load of ex-F1 drivers during his car racing debut in Qatar. The Italian qualified fifth fasest at the Speedcar event, in front of former Formula ones types including Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who is Melandri's team boss, and some bloke called Villeneuve, who was last seen playing darts at The Circus Tavern, Purfleet under the pseudonym of James Wade.

LCR Honda boss Lucio Cechinello says that he would like to see a MotoGP Trophy for the satellite teams but hasn't called for an entirely separate championship running inside the blue riband class. He just wants something to put on the shelf in his downstairs loo.

Marlboro Ducati's Casey Stoner is to step-up his physiotherapy and training in order to get more movement and less pain in his injured wrist, which caused him so many problems at Sepang he managed to be fastest. He is apparently concerned with the lack of sideways movement even though the scaphoid bone has healed.

Randy De Puniet has admitted he struggled with the new Bridgestone tyres during the Sepang tests and had little or no confidence in the front hoop at all. In 2007, the Frenchman used Bridgestones, but the tyre profile was smaller.
