Reigning Moto2 World Champion Tito Rabat has been ruled out of any further action at the Phillip Island MotoGP round after a free practice two crash saw him taken to the medical centre.
Rabat was spat off his Estrella Galicia Kalex on the exit of turn 11 - in a similar crash to one Scott Redding had two years ago - and after assessment by circuit medics has chosen not to ride again in Australia even though there was no further injury to his recently-broken wrist.
“It was a big crash in FP2 but, thankfully, I walked away uninjured and with no further damage to my left arm. The MotoGP medical staff made the decision that I was not fit to race here in Phillip Island and, after the crash, I agree with this. Now I have six more days to recover and I will see how I feel after that,” he said.
