Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow ended today's Phillip Island MotoGP qualifying session down in sixth place, saying he made some wrong choices with setup and that place on the grid is no good to him.
The Isle of Man resident also tried Bridgestone's extra-hard option tyre for the whole of the fourth free practice session and suffered cold tear on the rear which resulted in some hefty chunks dropping out. The options for the race are now under discussion as Bridgestone have already ruled out anyone using the soft over a race distance.
"We had a bad qualifying, I'm not very happy. We chose the wrong bike and I should have stuck with what I had in the free practice before. We weren't fast enough and we're too far away from the fastest guy. Sixth position is no good to me," said the Brit, speaking at Phillip Island.
"We tried ran it for the whole session and it seems like the other guys had the same problem but they ran it for half the session then changed. We will have to discuss and see for tomorrow," he added.
Crutchlow did run the medium option tyre in third free practice and found it to be fine, but other riders have complained about it.
"I tried it this morning and had no problem with it but some others did. I am not interested in anyone else, I couldn't care less what they have or do. I think we should be allowed to run whatever we want."
