MotoGP Phillip Island: Tyre problems see Moto2 race cut in half

Tomorrow's Phillip Island Moto2 race will be run over only 13 laps after spec-tyre supplier Dunlop acknowledged problems with the rubber they have brought to the track this weekend.

Dunlop debuted new compunds at the Australian circuit after consultation with Aussie Superbike riders but they have not worked at all well with the track's new surface so the race distance has been slashed on safety grounds.

Scott Redding got on well with the new tyre but Nico Terol had two de-laminate on him. On top of this, the Grand Prix safety commission has introduced an emergency rule banning teams from running non-approved tyre pressures.

Full championship points will be awarded tomorrow, however.
