Britain’s Scott Redding is again struggling to control rear wheelspin on his satellite Estrella Galicia Honda and says that at a fast tracl like Phillip Island, no grip means no speed.
The Gloucestershire rider has experienced grip problems for a majority of the season but team boss Michael Bartholemy points out the team have no data for most of the circuits on the calendar, so they are starting from zero every weekend. Redding made progress with the front-end today and finished 1.3s off the pace.
"Today was difficult. This afternoon we struggled to find any rear traction with the hard and extra hard tyre, with the bike spinning up everywhere. At a track like Phillip Island, with so many long, fast turns, if you don’t have the traction then you’re going nowhere. We’ll take a close look at the data tonight, because we need to find a solution for tomorrow. Initially we had an issue with the front too, but we solved that problem and I hope we can do the same for the rear,” said Redding.
