MotoGP Sepang: Crutchlow looking for rear grip despite second-row start

Britain’s Cal Crutchlow says he is looking for more rear grip and improved corner entry despite bagging a second-row start for tomorrow’s Sepang MotoGP race.

The LCR Honda man, who is running is Castrol colours this weekend, said he got held up on his fast lap - a 2’00.199 - but added that he couldn’t have bridged the gap to the front row

“It wasn’t the laptime I was looking for, I wanted to go quicker and I got held up on my last lap but I don’t think it would have changed my position on the grid anyway,” said Crutchlow, speaking at Sepang.

“I think we could have done a 1’59.8 or 9 but we did a good job as a team. I went quicker here during the tests at the start of the year, but we know the conditions are very different now so overall, to be on the second row, we are pleased.

“We now have to work hard ahead of tomorrow’s race and look at the areas we can improve. We need to work on rear grip during corner entry and corner exit, but I feel positive ahead of the race.”
