Ducati's Nicky Hayden has confirmed he will continue to use the carbon fibre swingarm for the foreseeable future after not using it at the recent Motorland Aragon MotoGP test as it causes chatter in his Demsosedici GP12.
Although the 2006 world champion can see some merits in the new aluminium swingarm which team-mate Valentino Rossi favours, the amount of chatter it produces far outweighs those benefits so he will stick to the carbon item.
"I am with the carbon swingarm. To be honest, I didn't try the aluminium one after the Barcelona test. Of course, it was on the list but it right at the bottom. It does some stuff better but overall the carbon one is stiffer," said Hayden, speaking to bikesportnews.com at Silverstone.
"The aluminium one does have more feel and edge grip is slightly better but for me it's not near stable enough and it chatters. Anything right now that triggers chatter is not good. The alumnimium one looks good and is a nice piece. If we had time to find the right stiffness then somewhere down the road we could use it."
