Britain's Cal Crutchlow has said that a lack of track time brought on by a brace of crashes in free practice was the main contributor to what he describes as a bad weekend at the Silverstone MotoGP round.
The Monster Yamaha man is still puzzled by two of the three crashes he had with the third coming this morning in warm-up but says there has to be discussions with Bridgestone to stop the amount crashes that are happening on cold tyres.
"What went wrong was I crashed on Saturday morning. We were too indecisive over the fuel tanks, we should have just left the bike. A lot went wrong but ultimately I didn't perform. I don't make excuses, I had a bad weekend, I crashed, my arm is a mess, I am going to see about having it operated on tomorrow as there is too much fluid in it," said Crutchlow, speaking at Silverstone.
"I was unable to brake how I wanted to in the race, I was riding around, hardly even out of breath, couldn't do anything, had no bike setup, no confidence and was happy to finish and that's not like me at all so we need to go to Misano, re-group and come back.
"I know I can go fast around this place but I never got it done this weekend, for one reason or another. The setting of the bike wasn't what we wanted, the crash this morning was through the bike being too high at the front and not heating up the tyre.
"We need to sit down and discuss some stuff with Bridgestone because there were far too many crashes again this weekend for no apparent reason. I crashed two out of the three times for no reason, no warning.
"In the race I was not willing to crash, I needed to finish the race. I didn't give up, I was still riding around at a comfortable pace but I couldn't break at all and that's it. I have to thank the team because they have been through some shit this weekend.
"Luckily, Bradley has ridden well all weekend and didn't crash. If he'd have crashed then it would have been a disaster. The bike I went to the grid on was covered in gravel rash. We haven't got the parts.
"The overall race time was a lot faster than my time from last year and I finished sixth. The pace this year is ridiculous. I am sure Valentino will think the same about Jorge, we can't understand how they are going so fast. To do a 2'02.1 on the last lap…"
