EG0,0 Honda’s Jack Miller is struggling to string together a consistent MotoGP weekend with decent times in practice at Silverstone rewarded with a no-score and finishing 43s behind winner Andrea Dovizoso.
Miller began the weekend 11th in FP1, 1.3s off the leader but dropped to 18th and two seconds off the pace later in the afternoon. The gap was back to 1.1s on Saturday morning but the Australian missed a Q2 spot by the business end of a second and he says things need to change.
“Things have dried up a bit since Assen when I finished sixth, and I don't want 2017 to end up like last year did when the points were hard to come by in the second half of the year, mostly because I missed quite a few races with injury after the summer break,” said Miller.
“We definitely have the potential and we have some good sessions, but just haven't been stringing a full weekend together, and that needs to change. We'll spend a far bit of the time between here and Misano unravelling things so we can come up with a solution. I'm pretty confident we can do that, but pretty impatient for it as well.
“In the race I struggled to find rear drive grip and it is not easy to understand why, maybe it was because of the hotter track temperatures compared to practice and qualifying. It is a real shame and I’m very disappointed with this race. This should have been a great day to pick up some points and now we just have keep working to recover from this slump at the next race.”
