Reigning AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies has been confirmed as a wildcard entry for the Indianapolis and Laguna Seca MotoGP races this summer and he will take part in the Indy tyre test in early July.
Spies has made no secret of the fact he wants in on the MotoGP circus and will now have to wait and see whether Suzuki will run a third bike for him - and whether former 500cc champ Kevin Schwantz will be a satellite team manager.
Rizla team boss Paul Denning said there would be no pressure for Spies to perform and secure himself a ride for next season but just for the American to go out there and ride to see what he can do.
If he does make it into MotoGP next year, it will be interesting as Spies has a huge fear of flying...
