It now looks like Monster Yamaha's James Toseland's only option to stay in MotoGP is with the Pramac Ducati team but the two-time World Superbike Champion has been seriously investigating returning to the series.
Toseland had talks with his old team Ten Kate Honda at the Donington round, as reported by the editor at the time, but has also been in talks with Alstare Suzuki, Aprilia and Yamaha, if they're still around. Most of this, however, all hinges on Ben Spies making his bloody mind up.
Not only has Valentino Rossi intimated that he may well swap his Yamaha for a Ducati in 2011 but has said he would find it very difficult to race without long-time crew chief Jerry Burgess, with whom he has been for 10 years.
Another MotoGP rider looking like he could be WSB-bound is Gresini Honda man Alex De Angelis. He has already been shown the door by Fausto Gresini and is, apparently, in talks with Sterilgarda Yamaha.
Honda are looking to increase the spec of their satellite bikes on next year's grid by offering machinery nearly identical to the Repsol Hondas of Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso but would have to pay an extra 20 per cent to do so.
According to the chaps at motomatters.com, Monster Yamaha boss Herve Poncharal has said that he didn't say Jules Cluzel was signed to the team's Moto2 squad, he said that he said Cluzel would certainly be a rider. This doesn't mean, he said, that Cluzel has signed and what he said was misinterpreted, he said. Apparently, he also rolled his eyes, waved his arms about a bit and said "Paf" before nipping off for a cheeky Pernod.
Nico Canepa is to be replaced by Aleix Espargaro at Pramac Ducati for the Estoril MotoGP round but may secure a Moto2 place with the squad next season. Isn't that exciting...
LCR Honda boss Luchio Ceccinello has said he hopes to retain Randy De Puniet for the 2010 MotoGP season, saying the recently-broken Frenchman has come on as a rider over the course of 2009.
Despite the fact Rossi has only publicly driven the Ferrari F1 car twice, some people are still speculating he may get a go in one in a race. He won't.
