Britain’s Sam Lowes could only muster a fourth-row start for tomorrow’s Moto2 race at the Valencia MotoGP round after being held back by a finger he broke earlier in the week and a crash in the final timed session.
Lowes was riding with close friend Leon Haslam and managed to injure his pinkie finger in a pit bike accident. He wasn’t aware it was broken until he went for an X-ray at the Clinica Mobile.
“All week it has ben hurting me a little bit so I went to the Clinica, they X-rayed it and it’s broken in a couple of places. It’s not ideal but it doesn’t hurt after the first few laps as then the pain goes away, so it’s not too bad.”
Lowes went down at turn 14 very early in today’s session, lost the front on some bumps and slipped into the gravel. Pole was taken by former champion Tito Rabat with Zohann Zarco and Alex Rins on the front row.
