Britain's Bradley Smith will get to try a factory YZR-M1 during the post-Valencia tests next week as a reward for his efforts this season which have seen him accrue more points than any other British MotoGP rookie.
The Oxfordshire teenager, who came close to out-qualifying vastly more experienced Monster Yamaha team-mate Cal Crutchlow today, will ride the bike on either Monday afternoon or Tuesday.
"I'm like a kid a Christmas. I don't know how good this bike is going to be and I don't know how much of an advantage it is going to be but to finally win over Yamaha for them to pull one bike from the factory team to give it to you is pretty cool. It just shows what a great job everyone has done," said Smith, speaking at Valencia.
Smith doesn't know yet the exact specification of the bike which he will use and also doesn't know whether he will be allowed the seamless shift gearbox, something Crutchlow so far has been denied.
"I have had very limited information but I know that a bike of some sort is coming. We still need to have a meeting tomorrow to check the weather," he added.
