Kevin Schwantz has given his thoughts on Francesco Bagnaia's start to the 2025 MotoGP World Championship.
Francesco Bagnaia did not start his 2025 MotoGP World Championship the way that many expected.
The Italian did not win a race until the Grand Prix of the Americas when he won the 19-lap race on Sunday.
The 1993 500cc Grand Prix World Champion, Kevin Schwantz, has explained his thoughts on what is going wrong with Bagnaia and the Ducati GP25.
"I think Pecco [Bagnaia] knew he was going to be able to find the speed and the pace, he’s just not confident yet on that bike," Schwantz said after the Grand Prix of the Americas.
"They seem to have made some adjustments. I’ve been noticing that I think the Ducati isn’t quite finishing the corner the way it needs to for him.
"It looks like he’s having to drive the thing out to the paint and still finish the turn, instead of at the apex having the turn finished and then drive the bike to the edge of the track.
"It looked like the bike was doing more what he wanted it to today, and he definitely had the speed to get passed Alex [Marquez] and put a little bit of distance on him."
Before his win at the Circuit of the Americas, Bagnaia's best Grand Prix result had been third place at the Thai Grand Prix.
Previously, he had to watch his new teammate, Marc Marquez, run away with the first two Grands Prix and three Sprint Races.
However, Marquez's mistake at COTA lost him the lead of the World Championship and has lessened his advantage over Bagnaia to 11 points.
