Britain’s Scott Redding hopes this weekend’s Silverstone MotoGP will be a turning point in his 2015 season as he also has to contend with making a decision over his future
Redding has an option to go to the Pramac Ducati team as it looks like Danny Kent has passed on his three-year deal opportunity but the Marc VDS rider must also focus on finding a good setup at the Northamptonshire track and carry it through to Sunday.
At the Sachsenring and Brno, Redding had pace in free practice but qualifying again let him down as he just can’t find the speed to secure a place in qualifying two by right and always comes up against the soft-tyred competition in qualifying one.
“Silverstone is a special race. I like the track, I’ve won there in the past in Moto2 and the support of the British fans is always incredible. This year we arrive in Great Britain off the back of a few difficult races and not really knowing what to expect,” said Redding.
“It could be that the bike works well, like at Austin and Sachsenring, but we could just as easily find ourselves in the same situation as Brno, where we had to work hard to find a good setting. Either way my goal is to try and secure my best result of the season so far at Silverstone. My motivation is still strong, and the support of the home crowd only adds to that, so I hope we can pull everything together and put in a strong performance this weekend.”
