Scott Ogden reflects on his positive Thai Grand Prix Qualifying

Gold & Goose

British rider, Scott Ogden, will start the Thai Moto3 Grand Prix from fourth place on his debut with CIP Green Power.

Scott Ogden qualified in fourth place for the opening Grand Prix of the 2025 Moto3 World Championship.

The British rider has switched from the MLav Racing Team to the CIP Green Power squad for the 2025 season. With his change of teams has also come a change in manufacturers as he has jumped on a KTM for the first time in Moto3.

However, after a positive pre-season test Ogden is happy with his position ahead of the Thai Grand Prix.

"It was a difficult one, in testing I was feeling good. Then we got here and it is one of those tracks where everyone is fast," Ogden told TNT Sports.

"You have two straights, which is all the bike, and then the last part is a bit more difficult. But if you get a good position in the group, then it is easy to be at the front.

"I did not quite expect the lap, I felt quite steady behind [Dennis] Foggia, but I am happy. When you are that close to the pole and the front row, it is a little bit disappointing. But if you had said fourth last year at the end of the first race, or even just to be here at the end of last year was tricky.

"I am super happy, we have done a long run, I think I was one of two guys who stayed out in Practice. We are feeling good, we will see if we can get the start, because the start is a little bit difficult on this bike. Then we will fight at the front, hopefully."

'I have got a lot of confidence at the moment, I am pushing the front a lot...'

Ogden was asked about the transition from a Honda to a KTM, which he has adapted to quickly. However, the British rider has pinpointed the change in mentality at the CIP Green Power squad as the main factor for his transition.

"It is strange because I have got such a unique riding style where I do not really use the rear brake, I only use it in the left corners," Ogden explained.

"It is strange because normally with the KTM you need a lot of rear brake, but it is difficult. I have got a lot of confidence at the moment, I am pushing the front a lot.

"Also at the end of last year I had a lot of confidence and I was there or there about. I think it is one of those things where everybody can go fast on any bike, like [Stefano] Nepa on the Honda is fast, [Matteo] Bertelle is so fast at the moment.

"I think the adaption has been quicker than the past, but it is definitely strange to see a different set of leathers, a different bike and different people. The mentality change is what has helped me the most, we just have to keep going."

Finally, the 21-year-old was asked what his plan is for the Thai Grand Prix and what his expectations are.

"I will give my all," Ogden said.

"If I can manage the tyre, but stay at the front that will be nice. I think it will be all out from the start and hopefully we have got tyre at the end."
