'The scary thing is there's more to come' warns Mir MotoGP crew chief Carchedi

Joan Mir's Ecstar Suzuki crew chief Frankie Carchedi has warned there is more to come from the newly-crowned MotoGP World Champion as he lifted the title a year earlier than his team thought possible.

Carchedi, who began his spannering career with GSE Racing in 2000, was brought into the factory Suzuki team last year while Mir was still a rookie and the plan was to challenge for the title in year three.

"We were never expecting this, it was always third year as he needs time to adapt so it is a bit of a shock," said the Englishman, speaking at Valencia.

"As soon as we found out that Suzuki wanted to keep Joan for a further two years, our plan was always the third year. The first was for learning, the second to fight for podiums and the third to go for the championship.

"We could see the raw ability from the first race. I think the biggest thing is he has some elements to his riding that are a little bit superior at the moment and at the same time the scary thing is for other riders is there is more to come."
