It does not seem that Lewis Hamilton will be able to buy his way into MotoGP through KTM.
After rumours began at the final Formula One race of the year that Lewis Hamilton could solve KTMs money problems the bosses of the Austrian manufacturer have responded.
It has been known that the British Formula One Champion is interested in buying a MotoGP team. However, it seems like KTM will not become Hamilton's way into the MotoGP World Championship.
“Never in a million years,” one source from the manufacturer in Austria told GPOne.
Tech3 KTM’s Herve Poncharal added: “These rumours are completely unfounded. There’s not a shred of truth in them. And I assume this also applies to the factory team.”
Another KTM boss told GPOne: “We read the Hamilton story with astonishment!”
Recently KTM entered self-administration amid debts that could hit €3 billion. But they have insisted that their racing department will not be impacted despite their financial woes.
Earlier in the 2024 season there had been rumours that Hamilton could become a part owner of the Gresini Racing MotoGP Team.
At the time Hamilton said: “I've always loved MotoGP,” he said earlier this year.
“I'm interested in the potential growth of the sport. But I haven't looked that far into it, just yet.
“But anything is possible. I'm definitely interested, as I said before, about equity. The Denver Broncos were already a first step into team ownership.
“I think over the next five to ten years there will be a little bit more. We'll see.”
