Former champion and Ducati test rider Casey Stoner believes that Valencia's turn ten needs resurfacing as the number of front-end crashes so far can't be blamed on cold tyres. The Australian waded in on Twitter following falls from Jack Miller and Franco Morbidelli at the fast corner.
Miller went down very early when the track was cold and made a big enough mess of his sole GP17 that he was still in the garage 2pm local time. Morbidelli was back out on his spare bike straightaway and went four-tenths faster, so no confidence problems there for the Moto2 champion.
Marc Marquez is atop the timesheets with a 1'30.228 but he is getting very close to those times on the 2018 bike, so it looks very much like the new RC213V is a weapon.
Valentino Rossi is continuing his development work from yesterday and is in charge of engine work today. The Doctor has two 2016 chassis with 2017 and 2018 engines in them to evaluate while yesterday's quickest man Maverick Vinales has a 2018 engine but is looking at 2016 and 2017/18 hybrid chassis.
Yamaha have stated the new fairing with 'wings' is not the final version. We would suspect MotoGP tech boss Danny Aldridge will have his tape measure all over that, if he hasn't already...
Bradley Smith has taken over swingarm testing duties on the KTM whike Pol Espargaro moves on to other things, including a new front rim as the team look at gyroscopic forces but soon after slotting it in, he crashed.
