'We clearly have potential' - Joan Mir praises Honda ahead of the San Marino Grand Prix

Gold & Goose

Joan Mir sees the San Marino Grand Prix as a 'good opportunity' to show the progress that Honda has made this season.

The Honda HRC Castrol squad have shown progress in recent weeks, and Joan Mir can see the potential in the Honda RC213V.

At the Catalan Grand Prix last weekend, Mir finished in 12th place, and if the Spaniard can put everything together across a weekend, he is confident of positive results.

This weekend's San Marino Grand Prix could see Mir deliver positive results. In 2024, the Spaniard had his best result of the season at Misano, and with the improvements to the Honda, he believes this weekend will be a 'good opportunity' for himself.

"It is a straight charge until the end of the season now, really busy for us and an important time for the future," Mir said.

"Our situation is the same as previous weekends: we clearly have potential that is growing, and we need to make sure to put everything together early in the weekend to capture the top ten on the grid.

"Misano should help us, it’s a track I like riding a lot, and we had our best result there last year. Since then, we have improved the bike a lot, so it will be a good opportunity to again map our progress."

The 2020 MotoGP World Champion currently sits 18th in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship; he has 50 points to his name and has a best result of sixth place at the Austrian Grand Prix.
