Marc Marquez continued his Balaton Park domination as he claimed victory in the Saturday Sprint Race.
After ending Friday in second place, Marc Marquez came out swinging on Saturday at the Balaton Park Circuit.
The eight-time Champion started his day by topping Free Practice Three, before going on to claim his first pole position at the Hungarian circuit.
In the afternoon, Marquez went on to dominate the first MotoGP Sprint Race at the venue as he won by 2.095 seconds over the rest of the field.
After the race, Marquez admitted that he noticed his pace was strong enough to open an early gap, which he was able to maintain for the 13-lap Sprint.
Now the Spaniard and his factory Ducati squad will analyse the data and prepare for Sunday's Grand Prix at the new circuit.
"Yeah, and no, I knew that somebody was really close at the first corner," Marquez said after the Sprint Race.
"From that point, I just decided to set my own rhythm. On the first lap, I was already riding in a very good way, and then I just tried to keep a constant pace. I saw that it was enough to open a gap.
"So, yeah, I am happy, now we need to analyse everything to understand the rear tyre for tomorrow.
"But apart from that, we made a big step this morning. We were working super hard yesterday, and today I felt much better."
With his brother finishing in eighth place and securing only two points, Marc Marquez was able to extend his lead in the MotoGP World Championship. The 32-year-old now sits 152 points clear of the rest of the field in the standings.
