Despite having already unwrapped their fourth out of five MotoGP engines, Yamaha boss Maio Meregalli remains positive they will make it to the end of the season without incurring penalties such as a pit-lane start.

Both Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, plus Cal Crutchlow, have used their fourth motor already, and we are only a handful of meetings into the season, but Meregalli says it's nothing to worry about.

"We have had one problem with each fatory rider, so for safety reasons our engineers decided to seal the fourth engine and keep the second one as a spare; just because they first of all have to understand what has happened and for us to be able to solve it as soon as possible," he said.

"Durability is pretty good and our engineers are pretty sure that - so long as nothing happens such as an accident, like at Assen last year - we should finish the championship with five engines."

All of the works Hondas have only cracked open their second engine for the year and in 2011, Casey Stoner won the title using only two engines from the six allocated.
