Smith's first experience round is at the iconic Daytona International Speedway, which he has described as 'crazy, but exciting'.

"They have definitely thrown me in at the deep end," Smith said on MotoAmerica's YouTube channel.

"I can't begin to explain how crazy, but exciting it is to do the banking. I can't get my head around it, I did not even have the confidence to stay behind the bubble.

"But it is an amazing place, it is difficult to figure out, hopefully the track rubbers in a little bit more and I get more feeling.

"We had a few technical issues this morning but I just tried to stay out on track and learn as much as possible."

Smith ended Thursday's Qualifying One session in 10th place, with a best lap time of 1:53.155. Which was 3.114 seconds slower than his teammate and 2021 King of the Baggers Champion, Wyman, who ended the day at the top of the timesheets.
