MotoGP race winner will move to WorldSBK next season with BMW, the Bavarian manufacturer has confirmed.

Binder has been at KTM since 2015 in the Moto3 class, which he won the year after. He graduated to Moto2 in 2017 and then to MotoGP in 2020, winning two races in his first two years.

But his form has taken a dive since 2024, and the South African has been absent from the podium since the first round of that season at Lusail.

KTM had already confirmed Binder’s departure for the 2027 season earlier this year when it announced the signing of Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Binder’s future had been unconfirmed until now, when BMW has announced the South African for next season's WorldSBK championship, almost a week on from the announcement of Miguel Oliveira’s renewal with the factory and of Danilo Petrucci’s departure at the end of 2026.

“What particularly impresses us is his absolute determination to start a new chapter in WorldSBK. 

“His goal is clear: he wants to fight for the world championship title. 

“First of all, he will need to get accustomed to the BMW M1000 RR and to a new world championship, and we are confident that he will do so quickly. 

“With Brad and Miguel [Oliveira], two former teammates are reunited who complement each other perfectly, both in terms of their personalities and their riding styles. This combination has great potential.”

Blusch added that BMW is continuing to work towards future projects with Danilo Petrucci.

“At the same time, we would like to thank Danilo [Petrucci] for his tremendous commitment. Together, we want to finish the current season strongly and are working towards a future together in other projects.”
