Peter Hickman: “Racing in the Daytona 200 has been three years in the making…”

FHO Racing

Peter Hickman says he is confident of a strong result when he makes his long awaited debut in the 2024 Daytona 200 having taken three years to pull together support to mount an entry.

The road racing legend - currently the fastest rider around the Isle of Man TT Mountain Course - will enter a pair of Triumph STR765 RS’ for himself and BSB race winner Richard Cooper under the PHR Performance banner, with support from FHO Racing.

He is bidding to become only the second British winner of the event some 16 years after Chaz Davies claimed a surprise win on the banks of the Florida raceway in 2008.

Officially backed by Triumph Motorcycles, the event will act as warm-up for Hickman for when he races the same machine at the NW200 and Isle of Man TT in the Supersport class.

In a field that will also count the likes of Xavi Fores, Niccolo Canepa, Karel Hanika and Marvin Fritz among an expansive international delegation this year, Hickman is confident the Brits can take it to the cream of the MotoAmerica racing scene.

“The Daytona 200 is an iconic event and one I have not only watched for many years, but it’s one I’ve always wanted to take part in, but never really had the chance to do.

“This has actually been about three years in the making trying to get it to happen and I’m so pleased we’ve been able to pull it all together and I can’t wait to get started.

“I know the package we have; we’ve had a good winter testing along with Richard, and I believe we will be in a good position to achieve top results. I can’t wait to get out on track and experience Daytona for the first time.

“A huge thanks to Faye [Ho] and the FHO Racing team for not only allowing me to bring my own team to the Daytona 200, but also supporting us – it’ll be nice taking the FHO name to America.

“Also thanks to Triumph Racing, Freedom Road Financial, Bathgate Group and Monster Energy; everyone has made a significant contribution to us being able to tackle this project and I can’t thank everyone enough.”
