Jonathan Rea expects to be 'back to his best' at Misano

Gold & Goose

The first half of the 2025 season has been difficult for Jonathan Rea, but he is hoping to be back at the front his weekend in Misano.

Following on from a two-day test at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Jonathan Rea will be back at the circuit for the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round of the 2025 World Superbike Championship.

This will be the British rider's third race weekend in the 2025 season after missing the first three rounds with injury. Since his return, Rea has scored nine points and is 18th in the Championship with a best result of 10th place.

The recent Misano test was promising for Rea as he was able to set personal best lap times around the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Ahead of this weekend's racing, the six-time World Superbike Champion is quietly confident and is expecting to be 'back to his best' on the Pata Maxus Yamaha R1.

"Really looking forward to Misano, we tested there a couple of weeks back and worked in a really good way, and of course, we need to keep making steps forward.

"Physically, I felt like I am getting back to 100% on my R1, and my consistency and tyre consumption was really, really strong. I just need to be a bit faster with fresh rubber and that’s something we will focus on.

"Misano as an event is fantastic, it’s the first real summer race that we’re going to face with high temperatures. Expecting a lot of Italian fans which is always very nice and I am excited to see what the weekend holds. We’re entering a part of the season where I can start getting back to my best: doing a good job for the team and all of our supporters!"

With silly season in full swing for the 2026 World Superbike season, this weekend could be crucial for Rea when trying to secure a strong ride for next season.
