Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max’s John McPhee will not compete in the coming Indonesia Grand Prix due to a training accident.
McPhee suffered two fractured vertebrae during a supermoto training session in the run up to MotoGP’s inaugural event at the Pertamina Mandalika Street Circuit and will therefore miss the Moto3 race.
The Scot is set to begin rehabilitation immediately, after the stable fractures were found not to require surgery, with the aim of returning to competition in Argentina on April 3rd.
“While training on Friday preparing for the next round in Mandalika, I suffered a supermoto crash that unfortunately left me with two broken vertebrae,” McPhee confirmed on social media.
“Thankfully the fractures are stable and so I will start my rehab right away to be back as soon as possible. It’s really unfortunate to miss this next race, but now I focus on my health to be back strong as soon as possible.”
