This weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix Honda have replaced the injured Joan Mir and Alex Rins with Iker Lecuona and Stefan Bradl.

Honda will be missing 50% of their MotoGP rider lineup at the Dutch Grand Prix after both Joan Mir and Alex Rins picked up injuries at the Italian Grand Prix nearly two weeks ago.

Mir picked up an injury to his right hand in the second Practice session at Mugello and was also not present at the German Grand Prix. The 2020 World Champion has been replaced by Team HRC WorldSBK rider, Iker Lecuona.

Lecuona rode for Repsol Honda at the Spanish Grand Prix this season where he replaced Marc Marquez. The young Spaniard has also been injured himself recently so a stint back in MotoGP is risky for the WorldSBK rider.

Ahead of his second Grand Prix weekend of the season Lecuona said:

“First of all I want to wish Joan all the best in his recovery. I am excited to join the team again, it’s a true honour.

"Assen is a circuit I like, I got my first WorldSBK podium there so hopefully we can have another good weekend like in Jerez.

"I am still recovering a bit after the crash in Misano, so this will be a good physical test too. Let’s ride!”

In the LCR Honda garage Alex Rins is set to be replaced by the HRC test rider, Stefan Bradl. The German rider has also appeared in Honda colours this season. Bradl has rode for Repsol Honda as a replacement rider in America and Team HRC at Jerez as a wildcard.

Rins broke his tibia and fibia at Mugello so he understandably is out for the Dutch Grand Prix as well, but will be hoping for a return at Silverstone after the five week summer break.

It has also been announced that even though he had a bruising weekend in Germany, which resulted in him pulling out of the Grand Prix, Marc Marquez will ride at Assen.

“I arrive in Assen looking to put the hard weekend in Germany behind me.

"We have one more race before the summer break and the objective is to gather a lot of good data for the engineers so they can work over these next weeks.

"This is the focus for the weekend, we need to remain calm and approach the weekend with a clear plan.”
