Scott Ogden claimed his best result of the 2024 season as he finished the Thai Grand Prix in eighth place.
The 2024 season has been a difficult year for Scott Ogden in the Moto3 World Championship. The British rider is in his third year with the MLav Racing Team and his third year in the Grand Prix paddock.
Before the Thai Grand Prix Ogden had only scored points on five different occasions and his best result was a tenth place. However, in Thailand, the #19 finished the race in eighth place claiming his best result of the season.
In recent weeks Ogden has been working closely with Michael Laverty as the former Grand Prix racer has stepped in as Ogden's crew chief. After finishing in eighth Ogden thanked Laverty for his help in the recent Grands Prix.
"Honestly, I was a little bit disappointed to see the rain, I wanted the dry today because I was so strong yesterday. I struggled a bit in the wet patches, but in the dry patches, I was strong.
"At the end when the lap times got a bit faster and they were faster on the wet patches. Then I had a big moment and I just thought 'Scott take points today, it has been a tough year, the last thing I want is to spend a night in the hospital.'
"I took points, but I am disappointed. This weekend we had the potential to fight for the podium. But I am happy with the result, and it has been a big effort from the team.
"It is amazing the difference Michael (Laverty) makes, he does not make lots of differences with the bike. But just the presence of someone I respect so much and he has done so much in his career. So, I respect him so much and it calms me and you have seen what it does. I want to thank Michael and all my family and everyone who helps me."
The 21-year-old is now 20th in the Moto3 World Championship with two races left of the season.
