The Portuguese rider will continue to sit on the sidelines for next weekend's MotoGP round.

Fernandez will return to the Yamaha M1 after an impressive debut at the Grand Prix of the Americas. The 27-year-old made his racing debut with Yamaha last weekend and finished 13th in Sunday's Grand Prix.

In the same amount of races, Fernandez already finds himself higher in the Championship and with more points than Oliveira.

Fernandez's past experience at Qatar:

The Lusail International Circuit has never been a happy hunting ground for Fernandez in all Grand Prix classes.

His best result at the Qatar Grand Prix came at the 2022 Moto2 Qatar Grand Prix when he finished fourth with the Red Bull KTM Ajo squad.

In his two visits to the circuit as a MotoGP rider, he finished 15th and 17th in the two Grand Prix and ninth in the Sprint Race in 2023.

His previous two visits to the circuit came with the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 squad on the KTM RC16. The 2025 Qatar Grand Prix will be his first visit to the circuit on the Yamaha M1.
