The opening World Supersport session of the weekend was delayed due to red flags, but Jaume Masia took top spot.

Jaume Masia ended the World Supersport Free Practice session at the top of the timesheets at Cremona. The Spaniard was on top for the majority of the session on the Ducati Panigale V2 and had an incredible morning

Filippo Farioli was one of three Italian riders to end the opening session of the Italian round in the top ten. The MV Agusta Reparto Corse rider ended the session in second place on the MV Agusta F3 800 RR.

The top Yamaha R9 rider was Can Oncu from the Yamaha bLU cRU Evan Bros Team. The Turkish rider ended the session in third place and was less than 0.2 seconds behind Masia.

The second MV Agusta Reparto Corse rider of Bo Bendsneyder was also inside the top five. Bendsneyder ended the session in fourth place for the factory MV Agusta team.

Marcel Schroetter completed the five at the Cremona Circuit in Free Practice. The German rider was 0.472 seconds behind Masia at the end of the session.

Stefano Manzi was in sixth place for the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team. The Italian was 0.491 seconds behind Masia's best time but is still in contention.

The third MV Agusta rider inside the top ten was Federico Caricasulo from the Motozoo ME AIR Racing squad. Caricasulo was the third and final Italian inside the top ten at his home round.

Tom Booth-Amos was the top Triumph rider as he snuck into the top ten in the latter stages of the session. The British rider ended the morning in eighth place on the Triumph STR 765 RS.

Completing the top ten were the Renzi Corse Ducati and Orelac Racing Verdnatura Ducati riders of Valentin Debise and Xavi Cardelus. Debise ended the session in ninth and Cardelus was in tenth place.
