Pedro Acosta aims to participate in the French Grand Prix after undergoing surgery

Gold & Goose

After undergoing surgery after the Spanish Grand Prix, Pedro Acosta is hoping to participate in the French Grand Prix.

Pedro Acosta recently underwent a successful medical check-up in Barcelona following surgery on his right forearm to address arm pump.

The procedure, commonly performed on MotoGP riders, was necessary after Acosta experienced discomfort during recent Grands Prix.

The 20-year-old is now on the road to recovery and has been cleared to travel to Le Mans for this weekend’s French GP. However, he still needs to be passed fit by medical staff at the circuit on Thursday.

A statement from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing read:

"Pedro Acosta underwent a positive medical check-up this afternoon in Barcelona and has been cleared to travel to Le Mans. A final medical assessment by MotoGP medical staff will take place on Thursday to determine his participation in the FrenchGP."

An up-and-down start to 2025 for KTM and Acosta:

The first five Grands Prix of the 2025 MotoGP season have seen Pedro Acosta have mixed fortunes. The Spaniard finished inside the points in three of the Sprint Races and three of the Grands Prix.

However, he sits tenth in the MotoGP World Championship on 33 points. Acosta's best results so far this season have been seventh places, which he secured in a Sprint Race and a Grand Prix.

Although he is the top KTM rider, he has not been able to produce the same level of results that he did in his rookie season.

During the first five race weekends of Acosta's MotoGP career, he stood on the podium three times, once in a Sprint Race and twice in Grands Prix.

The MotoGP rookie was also sixth in the standings with 73 points, 40 more than he has scored in his second year in the premier class.
