For the first time in 2025, Alex Marquez took victory in a Sprint Race after beating his older brother at Silverstone.
Alex Marquez was able to claim victory for the first time in a MotoGP Sprint Race in 2025, the Spaniard won by 3.511 seconds at the Silverstone Circuit.
The younger Marquez brother has had to watch his older brother win six Sprint Races in a row, but was able to get the better of him on Saturday at the British Grand Prix in Qualifying and the Sprint.
Alex Marquez qualified in second place in Qualifying and was able to go one better in the Sprint Race after capitalising on a mistake that his brother made in the opening laps.
After setting a consistent pace at the front of the race for the remaining laps, he was able to cross the line untouched.
"I am super, super happy," Alex Marquez said after winning the Sprint Race at the British Grand Prix.
"It was a perfect experience, and we did everything perfectly. It is true that I made a mistake at the start; it was not a very nice start.
"But I was able to control the first and second corner, here it is always tricky to do that. I was able to stay in second until Marc [Marquez] overtook me, but I took a breath in that moment.
"Later on, when he went wide, I decided to make my move and stick to my pace until the end. I had a really good feeling with the bike, everything was nice, everything was perfect.
"The Sprint is too short because I was enjoying riding my bike, but tomorrow is the most important day so we need to keep focused."
Alex Marquez has never won a British Grand Prix throughout his entire Grand Prix career, so he will be aiming for a career first Grand Prix victory at the Silverstone Circuit on Sunday.
