Prima Pramac Yamaha boss Gino Borsoi refused to be drawn on rumours his team has agreed terms with double WorldSBK Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu to bring him to MotoGP for the 2026 season.
The 2021 and 2024 WorldSBK Champion has been strongly linked to a deal that will see him switch to the premier class in 2026 aboard Yamaha machinery as part of the satellite Pramac Racing set-up.
The Turk’s manager Kenan Sofuolgu sparked speculation by claiming an agreement for 2026 has been reached, even if he refused to be drawn on whether it was in MotoGP or WorldSBK.
Speaking ahead of the Aragon MotoGP, Pramac Racing boss Borsoi confirmed discussions had taken place between Yamaha and Razgatlioglu, but added there is no firm decision on whether to sign him.
“Rumours are rumours,” he told the MotoGP website. “Of course, Yamaha have had some contact with Toprak, they are discussing, we are talking about next season but we also need to think about our riders.”
One stumbling block for the team is its current rider line-up with Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira understood to have agreements in place for 2026. However, one could be forced to make way for Razgatlioglu if he is signed to an official Yamaha deal.
In what has been chastening season thus far for the defending MotoGP World Champions - which switched from a Ducati partnership to Yamaha over the winter - while Miller has shown flashes of form on the improving Yamaha M1, Oliveira has struggled for form in an injury-disrupted campaign.
“Our riders have shown great potential and at the moment we have to understand if we want to keep the same line up as this season,” Borsoi added. “But as always, we’re in discussion."
While Razgatlioglu most recent WorldSBK success has come with BMW, he won his first title as a Yamaha rider.
While the possibility of a switch to MotoGP was explored in 2022, a lack of a satellite seat at the time - coupled with a lukewarm reception to his private test on the M1 - put the deal on the back burner and ultimately led to his defection to BMW.
However, with success at BMW coming quicker than anticipated, MotoGP is back on Razgatlioglu’s radar, with Yamaha seemingly keen to give him the chance now it has space in its team to do so.
For the time being though, Borsoi was keeping his cards close to his chest.
"It depends on the agreement, we have two different agreements with our riders. We need to study deeper and talk with the managers about the future. We are still thinking about the line-up of next year. I don’t want to add anything more.
“As I said before, rumours are rumours, no contract has been signed already with Toprak, we have just opened a window for discussions. Between here and summer, we need to understand where our riders are and we need to take a decision, that’s it."

Pecco Bagnaia to throw spanner into works at Yamaha?
The talk of Razgatlioglu to Yamaha comes amid paddock murmurings that two-time MotoGP World Champion Pecco Bagnaia is considering his options.
The Italian has endured a torrid season by his high standards so far this year, struggling to gel with the Ducati GP25 and failing to get on terms with new team-mate Marc Marquez.
The impact of Marquez’s form and a lack of confidence on the Ducati is understood to have prompted Bagnaia to consider his options, with Yamaha emerging as a potential option in place of Alex Rins.
Alternatively, Jorge Martin may also be on the market following the announcement he is seeking a way out of his Aprilia contract despite starting only one race with the team.
The 2024 MotoGP World Champion has been dogged by injury this year, breaking his wrist in pre-season testing before a crash and collision with another bike on his return in Qatar sidelined him again with a rib injury.
He has since declared he wants out of his Aprilia deal, though it remains to be seen when this will be confirmed.
