Marc Marquez overcame a poor start at Mugello to secure his eighth Sprint Race victory of the 2025 season.
For the eighth time this season, Marc Marquez was able to claim victory in the MotoGP Sprint Race, but this time it was at Ducati's home round.
The Spaniard has only been beaten in a Sprint Race once this season, and it looked like it would be possible again at Mugello.
Marquez had a poor start from the line after struggling with the launch control, but he was able to remain focused after his slow getaway and was back in the battle for the lead.
After passing his teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, and his younger brother, Alex Marquez, the eight-time World Champion was able to set his race pace at the front.
At the end of the 11-lap Sprint Race around Mugello, Marquez had built up a 1.441-second lead over the rest of the field.
"At the start, I don't know what happened," Marquez said after winning the Sprint Race.
"The launch control was in, then I took it off and had to put it back in again, then I lost a lot of positions. But we were able to put on a good show out there, and we won the Sprint Race.
"This was not my main target, my main target was to not lose many points. But I hope that all these Italian fans enjoyed the show because it was super nice."
Marquez now leads the MotoGP World Championship by 35 points and will be in the hunt for victory on Sunday at the Italian Grand Prix.
