Albert Valera insists that Jorge Martin is free of contract for the 2026 MotoGP season, and confirms Honda is an option.
Jorge Martin's manager, Albert Valera, gave an explosive interview to MotoGP.com during Free Practice Two at the Dutch TT.
During the interview, the Spaniard claimed that Martin is 'free of contract' for 2026 despite previous claims by Aprilia.
Martin confirmed last month that he would be exercising a clause in his contract with Aprilia to leave the manufacturer at the end of the 2025 season. However, Aprilia had already made a statement insisting that the reigning MotoGP World Champions' contract is valid for 2026.
"Well, what we can say is that Jorge is free of contract for next year, for ’26," Valera said.
"It’s pretty clear for us. He has executed the clause that he has in the contract, and we are just following the contract.
"Yes. He’s completely open, available, and we will see what will happen in the future. But again, he had a clause in the contract; he had the right to execute that clause, and he did so."
Since the rumours first began at the French Grand Prix, it has been suggested that Martin would join Honda next season.
The Japanese manufacturer has not commented on the situation due to the uncertainty around Martin's contract, but Valera believes Honda is an option.
"It’s pretty clear for us. He has executed the clause that he has in the contract, and we are just following the contract.
"Yes. He’s completely open, available, and we will see what will happen in the future. But again, he had a clause in the contract, he had the right to execute that clause, and he did so."
Martin's title defence has been a disaster as he has been struggling with several injuries since pre-season, and has only competed at one Grand Prix weekend.
