Luca Lunetta was able to leave the TT Circuit Assen with fractures to his leg after a scary final chicane incident.

The Moto3 Grand Prix at the Dutch TT ended with a scare for the SIC58 Racing Team, as their rider, Luca Lunetta, was hit at the final chicane.

In an incident with Taiyo Furusato and Adrian Fernandez, the Italian rider was hit by both riders but was able to leave the TT Circuit Assen with fractures to his tibia and fibula.

Lunetta will now miss the German and Czech Republic Grand Prix, but will hopefully be back in action after the summer break.

"I had skipped the Mugello GP thinking I'd wait until Assen to talk about something that was 'boom wow'," Simoncelli said after the Dutch TT.

"The boom was there, but it was a disaster. We were going home, leaving Lunetta in the hospital, who had surgery between Sunday night and Monday.

"He was having an exemplary race, complete with a double comeback, starting 18th, climbing up to 5th... sucked into the fray back down to 10th, and he didn't let up. He tried to climb back up... in the 4th place zone... then the crash.

"There is always something going wrong and holding us back, always one step away from a good story that, instead, turns into something else. It's turning out to be a trip full of setbacks.

"Unlucky but with the good fortune, if you can call it that, having only broken his tibia and fibula because, when you fall, it's a poker game, but when it happens with ten other riders behind you, it's really a game with Lady Luck."

Simoncelli also confirmed that Lunetta will be replaced by Swiss rider, Lenoxx Phommara, who has been competing in Red Bull Rookies and Junior GP.
