The 2019 British Superbike Champion, Scott Redding, makes his return to the Championship this weekend at Knockhill.
This weekend, Scott Redding will return to the British Superbike Championship in the Hager PBM Ducati squad as a replacement rider for the recovering Glenn Irwin.
Redding has not competed in British Superbikes since winning the title in 2019, and has been competing in World Superbikes since.
"So, I have come from Misano to Knockhill," Redding told Knockhill Racing Circuit.
"We have swapped out the fans and ice baths for heaters. It is a very different change, but I do love coming to Knockhill.
"It is a track that I really enjoy, and it has a lot of character. It is a very physically demanding track, but it is only a short lap, and it is something I never really get to ride, so I find it really exciting.
"A team that I have had great success with in the past, a bike that I don't really know how it will be. I am just going to jump on with Glenn's setting and hope for the best and see what happens.
"Then I will probably go from there."
When asked what he makes of the current British Superbike season, Redding was full of praise for the Championship leader, Bradley Ray.
"Brad has been doing well, that is really all I can say," he stated.
"Glenn has been there or thereabout, I just felt like Brad has had a little bit more in his pocket.
"Obviously, he is coming back from World Superbikes, so you need to get used to the circuits again. His team kind of folded, and then came back. There is a lot going on.
"But I think we are seeing the best of Brad Ray, in my opinion. I was saying earlier that Brad, on his day, is almost unstoppable, but that day used to come once or twice a year.
"Now he has this happy medium where he is fast all the time, and at the moment at most tracks. That is what you need to win a Championship."
Redding also made it clear that he has no expectations for this weekend as he has 'nothing to prove'.
"I think a lot of people will tune in and watch to see," he explained.
"It has been a while since someone from World Superbikes has stepped back to British Superbikes, at a unique track and just given it a go.
"I am never scared of a challenge. For me I am stepping in for Glenn. I have got nothing to prove. If I get a couple of podiums, mint, if I can win a race, mega.
"If not, we came and had a weekend and did the best we could; that is how I have got to look at it. I don't want to put too much pressure on myself because, with the weather here, you just never know.
"I know my first dry track time will probably be in Race One, but that is just how it goes."
