Enea Bastianini 'aims to carry Assen momentum' to the Sachsenring

Gold & Goose

A top ten finish at the Dutch TT has put Enea Bastianini back into good form after recent poor performances.

Enea Bastianini had one of his best weekends as a Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider last time out at the Dutch TT as he finished in ninth in the Grand Prix.

The Italian had been going through a difficult run of form as he had missed out on the top ten in the previous four Grand Prix weekends.

"We are arriving at Sachsenring positively after the Dutch GP where we achieved one of our best results of the season," Bastianini said.

"The feeling on the bike was much better compared to the previous rounds, so I am hoping we will be able to continue working in that direction.

"Sachsenring is a fun track, with a lot of tight corners, but we will have to understand how we can approach this track with the KTM.

"Let's see how we feel on Friday, and then we will go from there, but it is important that we improve our grid position, it remains one of our main targets."

Team Manager, Nicolas Goyon said: "After a very good weekend in Assen where we saw both our Red Bull KTM Tech3 riders finish in the top 10, we are now moving to the shortest and most atypical circuit of the calendar, Sachsenring.

"This small anticlockwise circuit is well-known to be a real challenge on a MotoGP machine. Enea Bastianini has shown better performances lately, especially in the last two rounds, and he will aim to carry on this momentum and hopefully reach Q2 for the first time this season.

"With four KTMs in the top 11 in Assen, our bike has clearly made a step, and I am sure that Enea will take advantage of it to continue his adaptation and improve his results."

After ten Grand Prix weekends, Bastianini sits 15th in the MotoGP World Championship with 42 points to his name and a best result of seventh at the Grand Prix of the Americas.
