Marc Marquez took a dramatic 11th Sprint win of the season

Gold & Goose

Despite a tyre pressure penalty scare, Marc Marquez was able to secure Sprint Race victory at the Czech Republic Grand Prix.

The Saturday Sprint Race at the Automotodrom Brno was won by Marc Marquez, but this victory did not come as easily as expected.

Marquez took the lead away from his teammate Francesco Bagnaia on the opening lap of the race, but as he began to stretch his advantage, he had to sit up and drop back into second.

It was revealed that Marquez had run into tyre pressure issues and could have been facing a penalty had he continued at his pace.

After getting his tyre pressure back down below the required level, the eight-time World Champion fought back and was able to pass Pedro Acosta, who had inherited the lead.

Marquez was under investigation after he crossed the line, and was later declared the winner of the Sprint Race.

"Yeah we did it, for that reason I am smiling," Marquez said when asked if he avoided a tyre pressure penalty.

"It is true that I was super on the limit, and I was riding comfortably, but then I saw that the pressure was not enough.

"I tried to push some laps on the brakes, but I realised that the risk was too high. I decided to wait and sit super close to Pedro Acosta to increase the temperature.

"When I saw that the pressure was inside the rules, then I pushed across the last two laps."

Marquez extended his lead in the MotoGP World Championship with his win at Brno, the Spaniard now leads the Championship by 95 points after his brother, Alex Marquez, failed to score any points.
