Pedro Acosta and the VR46 Racing Team have held talks regarding a future MotoGP deal between the two parties.
Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team boss, Uccio Salucci, admits that the team have held recent discussions with Pedro Acosta about a future MotoGP deal.
Throughout the 2025 season, there have been several rumours surrounding the future of Acosta, as he had been growing impatient with KTM.
Acosta appears set to fulfil his contract with the Austrian manufacturer and complete the 2026 season with them. However, he has been linked with VR46 and Honda for the 2027 season when his KTM deal expires.
Before Acosta claimed his first Sprint Race podium of the season at Brno, Salucci revealed that Acosta met with VR46 representatives last month to discuss the team's plans for next year.
Asked by the MotoGP world feed on Saturday at the Czech Grand Prix about reports of a meeting with Acosta, Salucci said: "We were joking a little bit.
"We spoke with Pedro more or less one month ago because Pedro asked about our situation for next year.
"But anyway, we are happy with Franco [Morbidelli] and for sure we will start to speak with his management to try to find the right way for him for next year with Franco."
Salucci also went on to reveal that contract talks have begun for the 2027 MotoGP season, not only with Acosta but with other riders.
"We already started to speak about 2027, not just with Pedro, because we need to start to speak now."
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team currently has an incomplete rider lineup for the 2026 MotoGP season.
Franco Morbidelli signed with the team at the start of the 2025 season on a one-year deal. However, the Italian has impressed this year as he sits fifth in the Championship and has two Grand Prix podiums and a Sprint Race podium.
Fabio di Giannantonio is contracted with Ducati for the 2026 season and will likely remain in the VR46 garage. The Italian is fourth in the Championship and also has two Grand Prix podiums and a Sprint Race podium.
