Fantic Racing have lined up two potential replacements for Aron Canet

Gold & Goose

Reports suggest that Fantic Racing are in talks with Tony Arbolino and Filip Salac for the 2026 Moto2 season.

With Aron Canet now penned into a multi-year deal with the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team, Fantic Racing Lino Sonego will need to find a replacement for the 2026 season.

The Spaniard has been their number one rider for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, and it appears that Barry Baltus will remain with the squad and become their new number one rider.

But it appears that the Italian team have two riders in mind that could replace the departing Spaniard.

According to a report from Sky Sports Italia, Fantic Racing Lino Sonego has been looking at Tony Arbolino and Filip Salac as potential replacements.

Tony Arbolino:

Arbolino, who has been racing for the bLU cRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team, has been struggling throughout the 2025 season on the Boscoscuro chassis.

Currently, the Italian sits 17th in the Moto2 World Championship and has a best result of second place, which he secured at the Grand Prix of the Americas.

With aspirations of still winning the Moto2 title, Arbolino could be enticed across to the Fantic Racing Lino Sonego squad.

Filip Salac:

In the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team, Filip Salac finds himself 12th in the Moto2 World Championship and has a best result of fifth place.

However, the Czech rider looks set to be replaced in the Belgian squad after the arrival of Aron Canet and the rumoured arrival of Deniz Oncu.

But if reports are correct, then Salac has interest from the Fantic Racing squad and the Italtrans Racing Team, if Diogo Moreira is to move to MotoGP.
