Ai Ogura will have his first Japanese Grand Prix as a MotoGP rider this weekend for the Trackhouse Racing team.

This weekend, the MotoGP World Championship begins its flyaway section of the 2025 season, and MotoGP rookie Ai Ogura will compete at his first home round as a MotoGP rider.

The Japanese rider will compete in front of his home fans this weekend in the Japanese Grand Prix at the Twin Ring Motegi.

Ogura's last performance at the Japanese Grand Prix was in the Moto2 World Championship last season, and he finished in second place for the MT Helmets - MSi squad.

The 24-year-old has not set himself any expectations for this weekend, and wants to 'enjoy riding' at his home Grand Prix as a MotoGP rider.

"This circuit is one of my favourite circuits on the calendar, and on a Moto2 bike I was riding quite well, but this time it is different," Ogura said in the MotoGP Press Conference.

"This time, I am on a MotoGP bike, and the riders that I have to face are a lot faster. So, we will see, we will see. I just want to enjoy riding at this circuit, and the bike has been working well at all the circuits."

In recent weeks, Aprilia Racing rider Marco Bezzecchi has been the benchmark Aprilia rider, and Ogura wants to combine Bezzecchi's good parts and his own style to 'perfect' his riding on the RS-GP.

"For sure what Marco [Bezzecchi] is doing on the bike helps all of the Aprilia riders," he explained.

"He is the reference at the moment as he is fighting for victory in most of the races. I will try to take the good parts from him and use that as an advantage. I just want to do my thing on the bike as well, but a combination would be perfect."
