Christian Iddon took a 'brilliant' third place at Oulton Park

A podium finish at Oulton Park allowed Christian Iddon to hold onto fifth place in the British Superbike Championship.

At the penultimate round of the 2025 British Superbike Championship, Christian Iddon was able to retain his fifth place in the standings with a podium in Race Two.

The AJN Steelstock Kawasaki riders' weekend had been going well in the wet conditions as he was at the sharp end in Practice, and went on to qualify in sixth place for the opening race of the weekend.

After gambling on slick tyres at the start of Race One, Iddon was unable to score points as he finished in 17th place, but set a lap time that put him third on the grid for Race Two.

Iddon benefited from his front row start as he secured his third podium of the 2025 season and was fighting for victory around the Oulton Park circuit.

"Nobody had any dry running. We have all done plenty of laps around Oulton Park, but when you have to go out and pull the pin, on a track that is pretty fresh, then it is hard," Iddon said after his Race Two podium.

"I got the holeshot. I knew I wanted to get to the front because I knew that everyone would be a little bit cautious or unsure. We were all in the same boat, but I figured that the nearer to the front I was, the better.

"I led for a few laps, then Leon [Haslam] came through, and I was reasonably happy with that, because I knew if I was not going fast enough, someone could drag me along. Myself and Leon were riding very differently; we were faster and slower in different places. So, that was quite apparent, probably.

"It was my pit board that was showing that the gap [behind] was coming down massively. I did not know who it was, but I knew it was incoming. Then Brad [Ray] came through on the last lap and got Leon as well.

"It would have been nice to have snuck [past] Leon on the last lap, but I did not have anywhere that I could make a move that would stick. But, third is brilliant, big thanks to AJN Steelstock Kawasaki for their work this weekend."

The third race of the weekend saw Iddon start from the second row of the grid, but he was unable to return to the podium and ended his weekend with a seventh-place finish.
