Fabio Quartararo was able to claim a top-five finish in the 2025 Malaysian Grand Prix after managing his tyres.
The Malaysian Grand Prix has been an event where Fabio Quartararo has had success in the past, as he has never finished outside of the top ten in MotoGP Grands Prix and has claimed a podium.
This weekend, the Frenchman was able to extend his good run of form at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit as he went on to claim a fifth-place finish in the 2025 Malaysian Grand Prix.
"I think we did a great job, of course it is a track where we know we are fast," Quartararo told TNT Sports after the Malaysian Grand Prix.
"But we have struggled a bit with grip and speed. I think we have managed to do a good job, and we can be quite happy."
'Today this is the best we could do...'
The high temperatures around the circuit make the 20-lap Grand Prix one of the hardest races of the season. However, the 2021 MotoGP World Champion believes he was able to manage the race and his tyres 'in the best way possible'.
"It was tough," he explained.
"Yesterday, in the Sprint Race, the soft rear tyre was already on the limit. But we used it in the [main] race, so it was even more borderline. I think we managed it in the best way possible. I defended quite well, but today this is the best we could do."
Quartararo lost out on a fourth-place finish after being overtaken by Franco Morbidelli, who launched an aggressive overtake at the final corner.
"It was a Franky [Morbidelli] move, agressive," he joked.
"Yesterday was super nice, this one was a little over the limit. But we are racing, and we all want to finish in front of each other. Unfortunately, I did not have the pace to follow him and give the overtake back."
