Filip Salac appears set to make a shock Moto2 move for 2026

Gold & Goose

Filip Salac will reportedly sign for the American Racing Team and will replace Marcos Ramirez for the 2026 season.

It is official that Filip Salac will not remain with the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team for the 2026 Moto2 World Championship after two seasons with the team.

Initially, it was reported that Salac would be on his way to the RW Racing squad and would ride alongside Ayumu Sasaki next season. However, it now appears that Zonta van den Goorbergh would remain with the Dutch team for a fifth season.

Now it has been reported by Sky Sports Italia that Salac will remain in the Moto2 World Championship next season, as he appears set to sign for the American Racing Team.

The Czech rider would partner with American rider Joe Roberts next season, but Marcos Ramirez, who had already signed with the team for 2026, will be on his way out of the American Racing Team.

Sky Sports Italia also reported that Ramirez had offers to sign for Gresini or Marc VDS, but turned down both contracts to remain with the American Racing Team. But the formal process to replace the Spaniard with Salac has already begun.

There has been no official confirmation from the American Racing Team as of yet, but the American squad is looking at finding a way out of Ramirez's contract for the 2026 season.

Roberts will not end the 2025 Moto2 World Championship as the American suffered a broken wrist in his crash at the Malaysian Grand Prix. He will be replaced by Xabi Zurutuza for the Portuguese and Valencia Grand Prix.
