A Test Rider role with Ducati for Nicolo Bulega is a 'great opportunity' as he targets a 'dream' MotoGP ride in 2027.

Nicolo Bulega believes his MotoGP Test Rider role with Ducati for the 2026 season is a 'great opportunity' for him to prepare and try to secure a MotoGP ride for 2027.

After participating in a half-day test on the Ducati GP25 at Jerez, Bulega then made his MotoGP debut at the Portuguese Grand Prix as a replacement rider for the injured Marc Marquez.

Bulega is now set to be the lead Ducati Test Rider for the development of the Italian manufacturer's machine for the 2027 season, as he has experience with the incoming Pirelli tyres.

The World Superbike star is using it as an opportunity to try to secure a 'dream' full-time ride for the 2027 MotoGP World Championship with Ducati.

"My first target is to win Superbike [in 2026], obviously," Bulega told the media ahead of the Valencian Grand Prix.

"I will have this new role, that I will be the test rider for Ducati next year for the 850, the 2027 regulations with the Pirelli.

"I think Ducati chose me because I have a great feeling with the Pirelli, great experience, and I can use 100% of the tyre.

"So, I think for them it’s important, and for me it’s important because with all these new regulations, it would be a dream for me to debut in 2027.

"I have a great opportunity next year in the tests to prepare for my debut in 2027."

The Italian continued to replace Marc Marquez in the factory Ducati squad over the weekend at the Valencia Grand Prix. Bulega went on to score a point at both the Portuguese and Valencia Grands Prix.
