'If I get injured again my body won't support it' - Jorge Martin is taking no risks at the Valencia Grand Prix

Gold & Goose

Jorge Martin is back in action at Valencia, but the 2024 Champion is riding in safe mode to avoid crashing.

The 2025 MotoGP season finale saw Jorge Martin return to racing action after sitting on the sidelines since the Japanese Grand Prix.

However, the 2024 MotoGP World Champion admitted that his 'condition is bad' despite nearly two months on the sidelines. This weekend, Martin is riding in safe mode, but revealed that the hardest part of the Valencia Grand Prix so far has been trying not to push.

"To not push, because I actually felt super good today on the bike," Martin told the media on Friday.

"It's a different philosophy of the weekend, trying to take it as a test is not easy, because when you are with other riders and you have all the timesheets on the screen, you want to push more.

"But it's really important to understand that my condition is bad, and it's really important to not crash."

When asked about how bad his condition really is, Martin revealed that he is 60-70% fit, and another injury could be catastrophic for his future.

"Maybe I'm 60% of my full potential, or 70%," he explained.

"The thing is that if I crash, then it will be a really big problem for the future. I think if I get injured again, then my body won't support it. This is what my doctors tell me.

"So I have to be really easy and really smooth, and this is what I did. As soon as I saw I was pushing a bit more than I have to, I just went to the box, rested a bit and then went back again.

"I need to be calm, know my targets. I don't compare to any of the other guys, I just look into my side of the box, what we need to be better, and that's it."

He emphasised once again that the true reason for his return this weekend was to test and to feature in the post-season test on Tuesday with the 2026 Aprilia RS-GP.

"Tuesday is even more important than to be here today," he stated.

"I cannot [guarantee] that I won't crash, because this is impossible, but for sure I don't take any risks to put me in that situation."
