Alex Marquez believes he will be able to fight for victory in the Sprint Race if he can make a step after Qualifying.
For the final round of the 2025 MotoGP season, Alex Marquez will start from the front row of the grid after qualifying in second place.
The BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rider missed out on pole position by 0.026 seconds, as Marco Bezzecchi secured his fifth pole of the year.
However, Marquez believes he can fight for victory in the Sprint Race on Saturday afternoon if he can make another step before the Sprint Race begins.
"It is so important, I said yesterday it is so important to start from the front row," Marquez told TNT Sports after Qualifying.
"We have a good feeling, and it seems like we have made another step today, but I think we are still missing something on this track.
"Compared to Marco [Bezzecchi], I think we are still missing something. It is true that [Franco] Morbidelli has been really fast since yesterday, so he is a good target for us. We have the information, so we will try to be there.
"I am happy to be on the front row, happy to be in front of this big crowd, so we will try to give our best and win the Sprint."
When asked about the difficulties around the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Marquez emphasised how important a front row start is at the Valencia Grand Prix.
"It is difficult," he explained.
"It is a short track, it is not a super difficult track, so we are all really, really close. This means at this track you always have to be on the lines.
"So, it will be important not to make mistakes, but it is also important to start from the front row."
