Celestino Vietti will make his MotoGP debut at the Valencia Test

VR46 Racing Team

Celestino Vietti will get his first taste of a MotoGP machine during the Valencia pre-season Test.

It has been confirmed by the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team that they will field a replacement during the Valencia Test for Franco Morbidelli.

Celestino Vietti has been given the opportunity by the Italian team to experience a MotoGP machine at today's (18th November) Valencia Test.

This will be Vietti's first chance to test a MotoGP machine, as he will get to complete laps on the team's Ducati Desmosedici GP around the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, alongside Fabio di Giannantonio.

The Italian rider has been a part of the VR46 Riders Academy and raced for the VR46 Racing Team for four seasons in the lower classes between 2019 and 2022.

However, for the 2025 season, Vietti competed with the SpeedRS Team in Moto2, and he ended the year in seventh place in the Championship with a race win and two further podiums.

The opportunity arose for the 24-year-old to test the MotoGP bike after Morbidelli sustained a left-hand injury before the Valencia Grand Prix on Sunday.

Morbidelli collided with the rear of Aleix Espargaro's HRC Test Team RC213V on the starting grid for the final race of the season, and ended up crashing his Ducati.

The Italian rider ended up starting the race from the pits before retiring due to the injury he sustained in the starting grid incident.

Due to the incident and injury, Morbidelli will not get to test ahead of the 2026 MotoGP season until the Sepang Test in February.
